Our class visited the magnificent butterfly garden. It was beautiful and amazing! Hundreds of colorful butterflies fluttered through the warm, humid air.
The guide explained that butterflies go through metamorphosis, which is a process where they completely change form. They start as tiny eggs, become caterpillars, form a chrysalis, and finally emerge as butterflies.
My favorite part was the feeding station. Butterflies are attracted to bright flowers. They kept landing on the red and orange blossoms, drawn to them like magnets.
Dark clouds loomed overhead, hanging heavy and threatening in the sky. Everyone knew a big storm was coming.
The wind was ferocious—wild and violent like an angry beast. Unlike the gentle breeze from earlier, this wind knocked over trash cans and bent trees sideways.
Mom told us to stay inside where it was safe. The storm would be brief, lasting only about thirty minutes, but it would be powerful.
Animals have special features called adaptations that help them survive. These are body parts or behaviors that help animals live in their environment.
Nocturnal creatures, such as owls, bats, and raccoons, have special eyes that let them see in the dark. They sleep during the day and are active at night, moving around, hunting, and finding food.
Camouflage helps animals stay concealed. A white rabbit in snow is hidden from predators because its color matches the environment.
